Doing the right thing’ to ensure our products are safe and effective

‘Do the right thing’ is one of our essential behaviors, and for Jamal Brown, Senior Director of Global GMP Quality Assurance and Compliance, it’s a mantra that drives him both personally and professionally.

‘Do the right thing’ is one of our essential behaviors, and for Jamal Brown, Senior Director of Global GMP Quality Assurance and Compliance, it’s a mantra that drives him both personally and professionally.

“I honestly believe my relationship with this behavior — do the right thing — is what led me to a career in quality assurance. It’s the core of who I am,” Jamal said.

Quality assurance is an extended arm of our U.S. and Global Health Authorities, and it carries a high level of responsibility and accountability. Doing the right thing — being unequivocally honest, trustworthy and ethical  — is essential.

Supporting our recent product launch

In the past five years, Jamal has supported our recent product launch from the early development stage all the way through to overseeing validation and commercialization.

Kelley Ford, Vice President of Technical Operations, Supply Chain and Quality, says that a crucial part of the quality assurance process is having strong relationships with our external manufacturing and packaging partners and being able to work closely with internal teams, like Technical Operations, Supply Chain and Regulatory.

“Jamal builds the type of trusting relationships we need to work with our partners and have confidence in the safety and efficacy of our products,” Kelley said. “This was especially evident in the past year. Even without being able to be in person at facilities due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jamal was in constant communication with our partners and the broader internal team to keep everything on schedule.”

“I’m so passionate about the work I get to do with my team to ensure that all of our products are safe and effective for the patients that need them.”

Staying grounded in what matters most: Patients

In May 2021, Jamal officially approved the release of the packaged product for patient use.

“I’ve been involved with about 10 product launches, and this product has been exciting for me because I’ve gotten to be a part of the evolution of this product for the past five years,” Jamal said. “It feels like we just finished a marathon, and it’s incredible to now be at the stage where we’re going to start helping patients in need.”
